Braised Pork Chops with Red Wine Sauce

This recipe was adapted from the Braised Pork Chops recipe by the one and only Martha Stewart, and is delicious, flavorful, and super easy to make! I made a few changes (why use water when you can use wine??) and think it turned out quite well.

Ingredients:

  • 4 Pork Chops (approximately 6 oz each)
  • 2 tbs olive oil
  • 1 tbs brown mustard
  • 2 tbs red wine vinegar
  • 1 tbs light brown sugar
  • 2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 2/3 cup red wine (I used pinot noir)
  • large frying pan with lid!

In a bowl, mix the mustard, vinegar, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and wine. Wash and pat dry the pork chops, then pepper each side. Heat the oil in a large frying pan over medium high heat. Cook the pork chops until brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes.

Pour the sauce mixture over the pork chops, reduce heat to a low simmer, cover, and cook for 1 hour. After 1 hour, remove the pork chops and reduce the sauce until thickened (mine was perfectly thick at the end, so this step might not even be necessary). Pour sauce over pork chops and serve!
